Our Spring

"Ring-a-ding-ding, Spring is here!" So said Rolly Polly Ollie; Eldest's once favorite cartoon. That comes to mind as I click through the photos of our Spring here in Japan--I am reminded that we have passed our first anniversary of retuning to Japan: April 27. A few days after that would be the anniversary of when we first set foot here in The Land Of The Rising Sun: five years now of living in Japan.
Hind sight--the bastard it is--being 20/20, I would have left Eldest in Japanese school thrown the CrazyOne in with her upon our return here. I would have kept up with learning the Japanese language. and that is it. Would've, could've, should've... And here we are passing another mile stone in our lives, enjoying our time and experience of just living this life here. When we first came here Eldest was only 2.5. Now she's 10.5 years old and CrazyOne, who was born here and left 2 weeks before her second birthday, is now a grand ol' 5 years old. SailorMan and I often talk of how our children have spent over half their lives living outside of the United States, and have been fortunate to grow up in safe communities CONUS and OCONUS. The people they have know and experiences they have been through have all been possible with great individuals who make up great communities. From letters from loved-ones, to neighbors new and old, lesiure and sports with teachers and friends, to Kanagawa's Finest (yes, SailorMan is walking back to the car after getting a ticket on the Yoko-Yoko heading back from Yakota Air Base);

a good time has been had and is still at hand. Now, if I could only remember to bring the camera to at least one of the barbecues...
